And ah in the summer- in the winter months we had a verandah in the front of our house and there was no basement under the verandah so it was better than a freezer, so all your meat and-everything would be out there and it would freeze in the verandah and that was wonderful. That was our refrigerator for the winter (laughs).

The kids thought that was quite nice. But ah- I was just a little wee bit disappointed, because you-know, whenever we saw pictures of the water and it was nice and blue and ah. But it was- it was quite- the water was quite dirty when ah- all kind of debris was on it.

Oh the old guy- the old James- James his name- can't think of (inc) James, he says "Oh yous guys (inc) you getting your transfer and everything eh? Yeah," and then he looks at us, he says "You stupid bastards."

We had a car. Well he had a little car, he works on there. So he say "What- what yous guys going to (inc)?" "Hundred and forty Bingingham-street." "Okay," he says "I'll take you there no worries." So we we threw our stuff in his trunk of his car and he- well you know you live in Toronto eh?

Watch out. Okay, so anyhow it was funny how we went- the first year we went to Croatia, when I was there with my dad and my sister, what was neat is we went to Croatia and they were excited to see us, "Oh we're going to have- we're going to make some lunch for yous!" A little late lunch, like two o-clock in the afternoon. And they were on the farming-type environment.

...he got to use the car. He'd got to sleep over where ever he wanted, he had friends over there all the time and- and when I question my dad about this, all he said was "I raised the three of yous. Now I don't care no more."
