Never done anything else, raised on a farm you-know? Loud a little. When I was a young lad, I never- I never fathered a farm.

Oh, I can remember going as a young lad, going to (inc) in the nineteen-twenties, but back in nineteen-eight, nine, ten going to a show for a cent, and only a cent.

Another interesting little incident that comes back to me, while the English boys were up at um the- at the airport training, this lad came in one day, a nice little Englishman, neat as a pin and ah he said, "Have you any books by Rupert-Brooks?" I said, "Yes, I think so."

He didn't want the book. And there was another lad with him that I knew that I didn't care for so I ah I thought, "Well, I'll ah just call the police." So I called them and I said I didn't like the actions of these youngsters and I knew they were hiding in a stairway right next to me.

One funny incident, I was selling or trying to sell a Bible to a young man, a good lad you-know but not too bright, and ah I got out- as well as the King-James-version I got him the new revised standard which was just fairly new at that time and oh, he was horrified.

One- one is ah working in Montreal doing script for um T-V and ah ra-- radio and that sort-of-thing, very clever lad, and ah one girl i-- has been for many years, secretary to the Governor-General and lives on the ah- at the gatehouse of the Governor-General's residence in Ottawa. Very fine.

They were very good. Another night there were some young- when I was down- just not too long before I closed the store, there were some young lads that I didn't trust very far and they were acting very peculiarly.

Well he wasn't in on that, he was in stealing the pipe but this was the two boys off, the two airforce lads down there...

...they were always stealing his pipe so I got a cigar one hot day and I got these lads out in the boiler room, they were about nine or ten years old. And I lit the cigar and I gave it to them.

I said, "you don't get a chance to smoke a cigar like this every day and I kept them in there until the cigar was gone. And that night the one lad's father came down and he said "if you see my wife coming you better get out". He said "that kid of mine, he said he's just turned inside out there he's so sick."

so we took all the- all the slats off, we just had them on the edge, so that when they ca-- they came in- my brother was a big lad, they came in, they popped onto the bed and "(crash)." Well I tell you. If we were up on the second floor, Uncle-Fred and Aunt-Kate were in the main floor, and there was a- Uncle-Fred was not very happy.

...and I don 't know why, but there was a certain way of his speech- it 's entirely unsc-- unscientific, I don 't have any recordings or data or anything like that, it was just- there was something very unique about the way this young lad who 's lived in this town most of his life and should sound roughly like most of the other kids in this town...

...when he got uncomfortable he was an Admiral and you weren 't and um the other problem with him- this particular lad- was that he was about- the last time I saw him he was six foot- he was fourteen and a half, he was six foot four and he was about three hundred and thirty pounds and he 'd been gaining weight...

I was watching the news last night and they were talking- it was Slessinger. Jule-Slessinger on The-National, talking about other atrocities other than the two latest topics, the init-- American lad who was executed and the prisoner torture scandal, and um, so they- they were broadcasting brief bits of image of that and one of them was the- one of the planes flying into one of the towers, and I just close my eyes now. I don 't watch.

And I 'll tell you, I mean, being a young lad myself, like if I was in high-school now with all these girls in their skirts, I guarantee you, my hand would be getting up those skirts.

Ah well there were a group of lads who put firecrackers in Richard- Bennet's pocket and lit them. That was bad. Chased them all the way to the back. Like I said the after the school like behind the school there was nothing.

So they've been really good friends sorta and then Trevor come along and of-course Evan took over with Trevor, so Trevor's just been with Evan so much that he just wanted to be an O-P-P, that's all there is to it. So and I-guess his young lad's going to be the same too. That young lad he's just- he's wants that too you-know.

And then we bought a house right on the main street, and it was close to the highway and then some nights you couldn't sleep because all the young lads were tearing up and down. That's payback I guess.
