When I was in public school in Minden, ah there was a young lad, got shot. What had happened, th-- they'd- he and a neighbour boy- it was duck season. And before school started- before they had to get on the bus in the morning, they went out to this swamp where they knew the ducks would be coming in.

One day w-- (laughs) the last day of the hunt, we were up in the bush there. Me and another lad was standing talking and the dogs were gone. We're waiting on them coming back. And along comes this four wheeler, mm-hm. Game warden.

ou knew she was on the line. And they said (coughs)- one lad asked the other, "You got any butter?"

There was another fellow (laughs) two (inc) dog biscuits one day for the lad that chased the d-- the deer out to him. Oh yes, there was a few things like that but um, one lad never got across the Clyde-River without falling into it.

These two lads mated up and they ah- there was a clock. An eight-day clock sitting right close to the telephone and when she took the receiver off, you'd hear the clock going, "Tick, tick, tick, tick."

They weren't filled. We told him what we were doing and waited. One lad was a way out to pay (inc) and the other fellow was warden of the county. And h-- that was their ah banquet that night. So he was away to it. And there were more, we were in the bush with no licenses.

But there's none on in the spring of the year. We've had a lot of laughs at lads who come and give it a hand to tap.

No, a young lad brought them back in the trunk of his car and he says, "I didn't take them but I'm returning them." And I said, "That's okay, that's okay."

nd my grandfather was, ah, McGee was a fiddle player so, ah, I know he went a lot of the- the- the dances and that sort of thing to play so you're probably right, it probably was mostly local talent although as a young lad you wouldn't pay much attention to that, eh, as who they were.

Yeah. So he was- he was a little early and he was a little tiny but ah, he's a big- he's a big lad now.

Just to- well, I guess when I was- before I was born or a little wee lad, it was a- a dug- I guess you call it a dug well down below the house.

I can remember the one lad, the other fellow I can't just remember. I can remember the lady, ah, Morgan-Waynes was our ah, calf club leader.

The Ottawa-Valley suits them to a T. Though, our concept of religious rights means not a thing to these lad, honorary pall-bearer, they'll be glad to be for me.

Speaker: At Easter time. Hill-Philson and I started Easter. Interviewer: Yeah. Speaker: So, yeah- and th-- then there was another- another lad started in May.

Tell you to back in the drive way and turn around and go back up and when I went to get my driver's test, he was coming back with a a lad. And he failed him.

So- so they ah- a little ah y-- young lad, s-- saw- saw me and lived ah- w-- there's a highway that went by and there was a house the other side and it was a y-- young lad saw me and I s-- I thought, God, I have no idea where- where we are in Germany.

Ah, some of the seniors would, ah, have to, ah- I think they actually paid- each year we'd switch around but it was usually some- mostly like be a lad or-something that was close by.

But ah, he wasn't a bad lad, I guess, he- he wanted you to learn for sure, but ah…

Oh, that was ideal because the- usually the ladies tried to see how much a young lad could eat.

And- and this- I wouldn't mention, I- I wouldn't put a name into this lad that done it but he's- the music teacher was there and- and a normal teacher was there and he- a little weird- what was left of an eraser, he stuck it up his nose.
