Like they had their curriculum but there was a little bit of leeway to add like arts or home-ec type-things into it when they had time, so we got to do that.

Like, those people next door are excellent people but they've only been there for five or six years type-thing, you-know?

Ah, and I think it was all done by horse and buggy type-thing, like, yeah, yeah.

Yes, with a hay fork, ah, with a hand hay fork type-thing, yeah.

It was a barrel type-thing and it wasn't a pounding one, it was a- it was going back and forth like that.

That's right. Um, ah, and my dad would- still had this feederline (sp) school bus and- and then he tapped into the bigger bus type-thing.

And, ah- and we were able to have a television and, ah- but the radio w-- was just battery radio, it was type-thing but, ah- but more modern ones than we had before, but yes by that time we had a, ah- a generating unit and that's, ah, just, ah, something there.

Mm-hm, and that used to be our- our December craft type-thing.

We used to walk and of course, you just ah picked up with the neighbours' kids as you walked away- along ah, and it was ah, you-know, we never- there was no locks or anything on the door, you just knocked on the door and walked in, ah type-thing ah.

A constant income with beef it's (laughs) either- you're either rags-to-riches type-thing (laughs).

And you phoned and they said, you-know, "Can you walk? Can you talk? You're hired!" type-thing because they're so short of teachers at that time.

And anyway I worked with a fellow- there was a separate school at Brekon, a rural- separate school. And he- his kids went there and he said, "Oh I like your attitude, I'm going to send my kids down to you next year" and I said, you-know "Oh ha-ha, yeah, you have another beer" type-thing (laughs)."

No, it's just basically a hang out type-thing.

Like, um, I've never been properly trained so when I got there, everything was kind of new ah, they even had to teach me how to properly walk a horse because when I started like they- they were like okay, here's your horse, get on type-thing

So that happened and then after that um, the aunt- they're really kind of useless kind of bums type-things and ah- I'd love to say their names but (laughs) I'm not going to, um, and they were walking up the road and they- they- they just like- they just turned their heads like this, they saw us driving down the road.

Well just, what ordinary people fight about, you know, like, uh, what would they say, 'cause you didn't do something that you were supposed to do and they were trying to make you do it, you know, pass it on to somebody else, type-thing, that type-of-thing.

No, no I never was a person that got in trouble, I was very- I guess, what you want to call, shy and laid back type-thing.

Oh, no, sometimes there's two or three of them and they- sometimes they stay overnight or-whatever, thats years ago when they were younger but they've all grown, a lot of them have grown up, they're out now on their own type-thing, so- oh yeah, stay overnight, they used to have sleepovers, yup.

Sometimes on snow shoes. And we'd take readings with different types of computer type-things that assess what's happening underneath. We loved it.

And ah you have a great big boiler, probably like say three feet by eight feet long and you get two of them side by side and you boil- like boiler-A and boiler-B type-thing, so you boil it down so much- then boiler and then you start to moving it inside boiler B, and you boil it down there, and you keep boiling it down boiling it down, get all the water out of it, until you get the maple syrup con- like the sap concentration, the sugar.
