And I was (makes gibberish sounds). Total strangers. And this happened anytime I was on the veranda that I was aware. I'd watch for them. Me and my little cat.

They ah- Mel said she drove to town and got the doctor and they sewed him up on the veranda.

And ah, Terry and his mother were sitting on the veranda there, and Dad went to turn in the laneway.

So we were staying there after the wake, we were talking to them, and Terry's sitting on the veranda. Terry shouts down to his sister, he says "W-- you better get rid of that corpse right away, 'cause-" (laughing) he says "You can smell it out here on the veranda."

Oh yeah, like it just um- I-don't-know whether- there's always a breeze there and it helps but we have a screened-in veranda so.

Ah, yes and I can remember sitting on our veranda-

I thi-- I think sometimes people who are- are anchored in in the- the traditional find it ah, discouraging at time because your- y-- y-- you have- if you and I have adjacent farms and we're old cottagers and we're sitting on our veranda's and so one y-- one of our veranda's with our rocking chairs and we're reminiscing and we're- we might disagree about a lot of stuff, but one thing I think we would agree on is that we get more or less production from our- our landscape.

Or w-- it wasn't plywood it was a wood, ah, veranda and by putting the binder twine up it made rooms for us and we made hammocks for the cats and dressed them and put them in there and- yeah.

It was the- the veranda that used to be around the house (clears throat) and they took it off so it was some of the floor of the veranda that we had pulled over amongst these trees.

We love it up there, it's ah- and we, ah, put a veranda around it, eh, where we could sit in there if it's, ah, raining or something eh, and barbecue on it.

And every night after the, ah, things were over, ah, we had the chores done and everything, ah, there was a nice veranda- screened-in veranda on the front of our home.

It's changed- um, during my lifetime, the veranda came off, and my mother built a sunroom, or she want-- well she didn't build it, she had it built, a sunroom on the front, and took off the big veranda.

And that was the night too I can remember (remember) the um- I don't- it was really windy and stormy, and my mother was always afraid of thunderstorms, had this terrible fear of thunderstorms, so we all had to get up and head to the basement, and there was cattle in the road across the road, and a tree broke the fence, and the cattle were up on the veranda.

And then, they cut the soap into pieces like that and one year, maybe I shouldn't tell this, but my aunt came and they put the soap on the veranda to dry overnight and somebody came in the night and stole it. And there was fresh snow on the ground and they tracked that right to the place.

We did very occasionally in the summer um o-- my sister and I used to get out of the bedroom window onto the ah roof over the veranda.

She brought them in and you left your empty bottle out on the veranda with the money or a ticket, I forget which one it was and- yeah or tickets, I don't know.

And, ah, in the front they had ah- benches all there, in a platf-- you-know, like a veranda, there?
