And they- they were just lads that, you-know, had grew up together and went to school together and-everything-else and they ah- that was- that was kind of hard to take...

They were the two oldest. And ah, give her- took over some things that I had that thought she could use for few days and she g-- they got back on their feet and- and those lads still haven't forgot that. One of them was here last week and he stopped in going to the lake and he- he was here all afternoon and reminiscing about the things he used to do when he was here (laughs).

We- we- the lake was right down in front of our house where I was born of course and ah, young people from miles around would come and they could- well they could skate there and they- the lads come up Saturday afternoon and clean it all off and they'd skate all weekend.

And we- but we used to have to watch the young lads when they came because- especially if we had ah, little pigs, you-know the sows? Sows can be really cranky and one young lad, he came with ah my cousins from Smith-Falls, one day he was out around the buildings...

But anyway, this morning (laughs)- this is so funny, ah we had another- as I say, during the summer we always had ah quite a few young lads supposedly helping us, but this young lad, he came out this ah summer and ah when they went to put the cows in the morning...

Sows can be really cranky and one young lad, he came with ah my cousins from Smith-Falls, one day he was out around the buildings and we tried to watch them but he went into where the sow was and he was going to go in to pet the little pigs and if we hadn't known it, I'd- he would've been bit.

We used to say that they came to see the animals (laughs). And we- but we used to have to watch the young lads when they came because- especially if we had ah, little pigs, you-know the sows?

Well my oldest son ah, Dirk ah, he's a- but now they say mentally challenged but he's just a bit slow but he's a very good lad. Very good.

...this old Hank-Stephen as I was talking about, he was always out for his few little things every morning, bring the young lad out the school bus and- so he had to pretty well be...

And I had a board that- on this draw barrel that you can stand on and my son was with me (inc) young lad about fourteen- twelve, fourteen at the time. When we went through and when we got near the creek, I said, "Hang on." (Laughs) I just shouted...

Mo-- mostly younger lads you-know. And one thing I remember is the smoke. The old store, the smoke would get- would be down from the ceiling like that, just solid. I open the door and it would just roll out of there.

So just leave him standing there. There was quite a few around and there was always a bunch of old lads in there shouting and talking and- if he did kick a little bit, some old lad would be over and shouting you-know and- so he said "When everything's quiet."

So they're full brothers. Old lad- younger lad comes down to me one day and he said, "You-know," he said, "I just found out what's wrong with Tyler."

Speaker: Yeah, Hank used to come down here to hunt with us. Interviewer: Okay. Speaker: Yeah. Was a great old lad.

There was cards in the other store when I was a kid and I see that old lad out there in there at one- one-o'clock lots of mornings and ah I said we're putting in enough but if we put the cards in here ah- our ah hours are going to be extended by about two hours a day, I bet you in the wintertime.

Yeah, I'll tell you one little story. This old lad and his brother lived together up here and ah they were always, they were fighting, t-- two couple of Irish lads and they were just right into it the day after day.

He was a young lad, played the violin just wonderful and he committed suicide. Yeah, and um they were good friends. So about a few days after, this Jordan-Morgan, he- he did the same thing.

...this old lad, "One thing I'm going to tell you- was you need to put your eggs in many baskets if you're going to make it count…in farming." So y-- so we discussed this at the f-- after those guy left, eh, we were "What the devil is he talking about?"

Anyway, I went through it with the truck, and I (inc) home, here was the young lad on the couch, pain in his belly. "Well what happened to you?" He was there before I was. Well the- (inc) was a crooked road and he had the bucket of the tractor tip down, he should have hit the half ton truck head on, it would have been easier.

Been able to survive. With a wee bit of everything. And some people are- getting back to this other lad. This lad- father of this young lad, this Art guy. He went to (inc)-College. He come home from that, he clipped sheep.
